James A. Hardy

Founding Director of the Office of Technology Development for the LSU Health Sciences Center

James A. Hardy is the founding Director of the Office of Technology Development for the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans. In this position he has responsibility for the Intellectual Property assets of the University’s six local colleges: Schools of Medicine, Allied Health, Nursing, Graduate Studies, Public Health, and Dentistry. As the University’s research faculty generate new ideas and inventions, James leads the process of recruitment, evaluation, and promotion of these valuable assets. Previously, he was a grant writer and major gift coordinator for the LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation.

After spending 10 successful years in the commercial real estate business, James began working directly for a series of local and regional non-profit organizations and community initiatives. He served as a senior staff member and event coordinator for the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, an organization he helped create five years earlier, acted as a senior campaign staffer for a citywide mayoral candidate and served as Executive Director for New Orleans Summerbridge, an educational initiative for inner city middle school students.

James received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Tulane University. Active in professional organizations and community service, his involvement has been in numerous non-profit and civic organizations, including leadership positions with the Young Leadership Council, Community Access Corporation, GNO Inc., MetroVision, Historic District Landmarks Commission, Idea Village, and the LSU Health Sciences Center Foundation.
